Stipo Pranyko

Born on 30.7.1930 in Jajce/Bosnia, autodidact, after years in the former Jugoslavia, Germany, Italy and France, he moved to Lanzarote/Canarian Islands, where he lived from 1990 – 2012.

He then lived and worked in Munich where he died on March 14, 2021.

Stipo Pranyko

Geboren am 30.7.1930 in Jajce/Bosnien, Autodidakt, lebte im ehemaligen Jugoslawien, in Deutschland, Italien und Frankreich. Von 1990 – 2012 lebte er auf der Kanarischen Insel Lanzarote.

Danach lebte und arbeitete Stipo Pranyko in München, wo er am 14. März 2021 gestorben ist.

Stipo Pranyko

Nació el 30. de julio de 1930 en Jajce/Bosnia, autodidacta, vivió en la antigua Yugoslavia, en Alemania, en Italia y en Francia. De 1990 – 2012 vivía en Lanzarote.

Después de haber residido más de veinte años en Lanzarote, trasladó su residencia a Múnich, donde murió el 14 de marzo de 2021.

Casa Stipo Pranyko, Tahiche, 1990 – 2012

“A house resembling a sculpture, rational yet poetic in its design. A collection of bulidings, light and dark, domes, amorphous forms, light filtering softly through the windows, dynamic works of art everywhere and vestiges of memories collected over a long lifetime. Underground is a labyrinth that Stipo Pranyko dug with his own large and powerful hands in the solid black lava stone – a task to which he devoted himself on and off over fourteen years, sometimes until he dropped from physical exhaustion. A Jacob’s ladder rises out of the cavern and into the open air.”

„Ein Haus wie eine Skulptur, rational konstruiert und poetisch zugleich. Ein Ensemble von Gebäuden, hell und licht, Rundungen, amorphe Formen, Fenster, durch die weich das Licht fällt, überall lebendige Werke und Spuren der Erinnerung eines langen Lebens. Und unter der Erde ein Labyrinth, das Stipo Pranyko mit den eigenen großen und kraftvollen Händen mit Unterbrechungen über vierzehn Jahre hinweg in das massive schwarze Lava Gestein gegraben hat bis zur körperlichen Erschöpfung. Eine Himmelsleiter ragt aus der Höhle ins Freie.“

“Una casa como una escultura, construida racionalmente y al mismo tiempo poética. Un conjunto de edificios, claro y luminoso, redondeces, formas amorfas, ventanas a través de las cuales la luz baja suavemente, por todas partes obras vivas y huellas del recuerdo de una larga vida. Y bajo tierra un laberinto que Stipo Pranyko ha cavado en la negra lava maciza con sus propias manos grandes y fuertes a lo largo de catorce años con interrupciones, hasta el agotamiento físico. Una escalera de Jacob sale de la cueva hacia el exterior.”
